A CARK-in-Cartmel businessman is seeking planning consent for a new gym in Grange-over-Sands.
The inspiration behind Richard Hunter's plan was his own need to build up body strength to counteract the effects of multiple sclerosis, according to plans lodged with South Lakeland District Council.
The pay-as-you-go gym would be located at the seaside town's old cinema, Palace Buildings, on Main Street. "The entrance is decorated with pillars and has the look of a Greek temple, lending itself very nicely to being an establishment related to fitness," state the plans, which also highlight the number of "affluent retired people" in Grange who "take looking after themselves seriously".
