THIS year’s London Marathon will be a family affair for a Kendal dad and daughter.

Geoff and Zoe Barrett will be lining up together on Sunday, April 23, to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society and children's communication charity ICAN.

"Zoe has trained harder than I have, and it wasn’t until last weekend that I decided I was fit enough to take part," said Geoff, regional trainer for the dementia charity, who first ran the London Marathon 23 years ago, before Zoe was born.

Zoe is studying for a speech and language therapy degree at Cardiff Met University, and said: "I have always loved running, training first with Helm Hill Runners, then with Kendal AAC, so when the opportunity arose for me to run the London Marathon for ICAN I could not have thought of a better way to combine my two passions."
