PROTESTORS have formed human barricades at two Carnforth quarries, in opposition to the alleged supply of materials essential to fracking in Lancashire.
Reclaim the Power has stopped lorries from entering Back Lane Quarry and Leapers Wood Quarry, by suspending a person in a swing from the height bars at each entrance on today (March 27).
They also blocked the B6254, Kellet road was closed in both directions between 5 and 7.30am on March 27, between A601 and Kirkby Lonsdale Road. Police say this has now re-opened.
Operations at the quarries continue to be halted due to the entry roads being inaccessible, and police have turned out in force and made blockades to stop more people from entering.
According to the protestors, the company Aggregate Industries allegedly use their quarry at Back Lane to supply materials central to the building of fracking pads and roads. These materials will be used for the proposed work to be undertaken by Cuadrilla at Preston New Road, near Blackpool.
