TWO criminals caught transporting a "drug dealer's kit" into Cumbria have been jailed for a total of nine years.

Carlisle Crown Court heard how police stopped a van on the M6 near Tebay on February 15. Inside they found over 300 grammes of high purity cocaine.

Also in the vehicle was 300 grammes of caffeine and hydraulic press equipment. This, the court heard, could have been used to increase both the quantity and value of the class A drug.

As a result, the cocaine could have then had a potential street value of up to £25,000.

Adam Garnett, 27, and Mark Anthony Brett, 28, were arrested and later pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine with intent to supply. They also admitted the possession of class B cannabis which was also found in the van.

The court heard that police concluded the items in the van formed part of a "drug-dealer's kit" which was being transported to Cumbria from Liverpool.

Garnett, of Devonshire Road, Blackpool, was jailed for five years by Judge Peter Davies. Brett, of Shaftesbury Avenue, also Blackpool, was given a four-year jail term.

Judge Davies said of the illegal haul seized from the van: "This was obviously a significant, marketable commodity."
