THE crew of Coniston’s Steam Yacht Gondola is looking forward to the start of the new sailing season on Saturday (April 1).
The boat has been treated to a re-upholstered aft saloon with the help of Coniston-based company Loungy Upholstery and crewman Jack McDonagh has replaced the window frames in the first class saloon.
The new season includes Cadbury’s Easter egg hunts from April 14 and nautical knot cruises in August, lectures on the significance of Gondola’s Venetian design and a cruise and guided walk with afternoon tea exploring Coniston’s Beatrix Potter connections.
The Grand Victorian Tour will also be running this season in collaboration with Windermere Lake Cruises, Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway and Mountain Goat Tours – this is a recreation of one of the Furness Railway tours of the Victorian and Edwardian era, accompanied by a National Trust guide.
Full details of Gondola’s timetable, special events and details about the Grand Victorian Tour can all be found on the website www.nationaltrust.org.uk/steam-yacht-gondola
