A COMMUNITY has pulled together to launch a resilient self-sufficient hub which can be used in cases of emergencies.
Borwick and Priest Hutton Memorial Hall celebrated the completion with a demonstration of new lighting and other features to local residents.
These include a secure metal container housing a new generator, new LED lighting, torches, high-vis vests and two-way radios.
It means the memorial hall would become a community hub should another power outage occur such as during Storm Desmond in December 2015.
The new improvements will also result in community benefits for the many and varied groups who regularly use its facilities.
The project was made possible by a £9,703 grant awarded by the Community Foundation for Lancashire from the Lancashire Flood Recovery Fund 2015 supported by the Vital Signs project - as well as a contribution from St Mary's church.
A presentation on the emergency plan was given by Eric Rooney and an activation test of the plan will be held in the near future.
Advice on the project and plan was also given by Mark Bartlett, civil contingencies officer at Lancaster City Council.
