I read your article about NatWest closing branches in Ulverston, Grange-over-Sands, Ambleside and Settle with disgust. (Gazette, March 30, 'Fury as bank reveals branch closure plans').
How are small businesses and those who do not bank on line, who can not travel far, drive, or want to get advice from the banks, supposed to manage?
Also what other facilities will be available to them? Very few I suspect!
There will also be problems paying in money, as well as changing money.
Even though one can use the post offices it will mean bigger queues and busier offices, which is not ideal.
Unfortunately footfall in bank branches has fallen dramatically but these big banks including NatWest, because of this, do not seem to care about the ordinary man in the street. It is about time we all stood up to them and said enough is enough.
I do hope both MPs, Tim Farron and John Woodcock are successful with their talks with NatWest and can come to some arrangement to minimise the impact on the Lake District citizens.
