A SOUTH Lakeland man who wanted to re-value his life, walked 550 miles before realising what changes he should make.

Craig Muirhead, who lives in Kirkby Lonsdale, resigned from his job as a regional sales manager to undertake the longest walk of his life, the Camino de Santiago. The Camino is the name of a number of pilgrim routes, or ways, to the shrine of the apostle St James in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in north west Spain.

Starting from St Jean Pied de Port in south west France, Craig walked to Santiago de Compostella and beyond to the Atlantic Ocean at Finisterre. It took almost five weeks and he met people of all nationalities, all walking for their own personal reasons, and they exchanged their stories as they walked for up to 12 hours a day.

Craig finally determined to find a role that helped people, particularly people who want to move from where they are to where they want to be. He decided to become a life coach.

Craig will give an illustrated talk about his journey across northern Spain at the Lunesdale Hall, Kirkby Lonsdale, this Saturday, April 8, starting at 7pm. The event is organised by the Friends of St Mary’s. Tickets are obtainable from committee members, or telephone 015242 71932.
