CHILDREN at Staveley CE Primary School raised the most ever in a single event by smashing their target of cycling the equivalent of the coast-to-coast.
In the event, organised by The Friends of Staveley School and Emma Craghill from Wheelbase, also a parent at the school, the children used ten turbo trainers and a virtual trainer during the day.
The youngsters took on the challenge of cycling from Whitehaven to Tynemouth in just one day - and raised £1,592.70.
The children smashed their distance target and cycled 218 miles collectively. This was the equivalent of Whitehaven to Tynemouth and then back to Penrith.
Wheelbase donated the use of their equipment and some excellent prizes for the children from each year group cycling the furthest.
The money will be going towards enhancing and improving the outdoor areas and learning at the school.
