A MAN in his 40s sustained a serious leg injury following an accident involving a horse and cart at Appleby yesterday afternoon.
The Great North Air Ambulance was called and its trauma team assessed and treated the man at the scene.
He was then flown to the James Cook Hospital, Middlesbrough, where he arrived in a 'stable' condition. The flight took 24 minutes.
