TEAM members from a Lake District treetop attraction plan to walk all 214 Wainwrights to raise money for footpath repairs.

Colleagues from Treetop Trek, at Brockhole, are swapping the woodland canopy for mountaintops with their pledge to complete the challenge for Fix the Fells in 12 months.

Since the new year they have completed 77 walks, and plans to tackle the remaining 137 are well in hand. Treetop staff from Brockhole, Ripon and the soon-to-open site at Heaton Park, Manchester, are dreaming up inventive ways to tackle the Wainwrights, with one even skiing down one of the peaks.

Mike Turner, managing director of Treetop Trek Ltd, said: "It’s absolutely fantastic to see the team here so dedicated to supporting a local charity like Fix the Fells. Everyone at Treetop Trek is passionate about Cumbria and it’s brilliant to be able to give something back to nature and have a fantastic time while doing so."

Fix the Fells aims to protect the Lakeland hills from erosion by maintaining and repairing paths, thanks to the efforts of volunteers and National Trust rangers.
