BUS company Stagecoach Kendal has boosted funds at the Westmorland South Lakes branch of the MS Society by £1,000.

Stagecoach engineering manager John Calderbank came up with the idea of publishing a calendar after local artist and Stagecoach traveller Lynda Braithwaite presented the Stagecoach Kendal depot with several humorous, bus-related sketches Stagecoach agreed to meet all the publishing costs, and 200 calendars have now been sold to Stagecoach employees throughout the North West, raising £1,000 to help support local people with multiple sclerosis. One calendar even found its way to New Zealand.

Christian Davies, who chairs the local branch of the MS Society: "Last year we spent more than £18,000 on various items and activities for the benefit of those who live with MS in the South Lakes. We can only continue this support with the generosity of organisations like Stagecoach and the hard work and commitment of individuals like John and Lynda."

Pictured is Lynda’s picture depicting the Stagecoach staff at Baldreys Tearoom in Grasmere as the cafe greatly assisted operations after the floods by offering their facilities as a base for Stagecoach drivers by providing catering and toilet facilities.

The official presentation took place on Thursday 30th March at Stagecoach Kendal where a cheque for £1,000 was presented by Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire Managing Director, Matt Cranwell.

The MS Society support a range of weekly therapies for members as well as several social events throughout the year.
