Firefighters were called to a report of grass on fire between junctions 38 and 37.
The fire, which took place at around 1.55pm on Saturday (April 22) involved around four thousand metres of grass on the west coast line railway embankment.
Overhead lines were isolated and trains stopped as firefighters tackled the blaze using hose reel jets and beaters.
