MORECAMBE and Lunesdale MP David Morris has been re-selected to fight the seat on June 8, following a meeting of his constituency association at the weekend.

Mr Morris, who is defending a 4,590 majority, said he was “delighted to have been unanimously re-adopted” and went on to vow he would work to increase prosperity in Morecambe and Lunesdale.

“This election will be about securing a strong and stable leadership nationally to ensure that Brexit can be delivered but will also be about strong leadership locally to ensure our area continues to prosper as it has over the last seven years,” said Mr Morris.

Claiming a measure of credit for more than a billion pounds of government funding locally, he continued: “I do not rest on my laurels and my past victories. I will continue to support the energy sector locally and ensure that Heysham 3 (nuclear power plant) is built as soon as possible.

"I will also continue to work with local businesses to secure a much-needed Enterprise Zone so our businesses have space to expand and create more employment.”
