A SOUTH Lakeland woman has raised more than £1,000 to battle a major neurological condition by hosting a Party for Parkinson's night.

Becca Fairclough, of Ulverston, who is donating the money to Parkinson's UK, has been fundraising for the charity since her dad's diagnosis with the condition on Christmas Eve 2014.

Her Party for Parkinson's was held at Ulverston Sports Club and attracted around 100 people. Music was performed by Chrissie Bentley’s workshop, The Bluegrass Project, The Degenerate Art Show, and The Next Stop.

She said: “I am thrilled with how much money we have raised for Parkinson’s UK. I would like to thank those who have helped me organise and advertise the gig, including my parents Ali and Steve. Thanks also go out to the bands for playing and the Sports Club team for having us.

"The raffle was very popular which is testament to the generosity of the local businesses and friends who offered prizes. I am very grateful to everyone who attended on the night and those who have donated via JustGiving.”

The JustGiving page is still active for those who would like to make further contributions to the cause www.justgiving.com/parkinsonsgig

The funds raised by Party for Parkinson’s will allow Parkinson’s UK to continue with its vital research work to find a cure, and improve the lives of the 127,000 people living in the UK who are affected by Parkinson’s.
