A NINE-hole golf fun day at the Carus Green Club in Kendal raised £1,762 for Lancashire-based charity, the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

The mixed competition, which was attended by more than 40 participants, was organised by Carus member, Norma Owen, in an attempt to raise funds for the foundation’s 20th anniversary appeal. It hopes to hit an ambitious £1.5 million target.

Norma, who is a member of the Dallam Rosemere Cancer Foundation Supporters' Group, described Rosemere as being ‘close to my heart.’ A number of her family members have received support at the centre which is located at the Royal Preston Hospital.

Selling more than 1,000 raffle tickets ahead of the event, Norma approached a number of individuals and local businesses for prizes, with many giving generously.

“I am delighted that so many supporters turned out to enjoy the day," said Norma. "It was a very good humoured competition of course, with non-golfing partners doing the putting! Most importantly, we raised a considerable sum for an extremely worthy cause."
