TWO South Cumbria teens who committed class A drug crimes have been spared immediate prison.

Carlisle Crown Court heard the offending of Oliver Hambley and Zak Robinson, both aged 19, came to light after an incident at the Kendal Calling music festival on July 30 last year. They were found to have offered drugs to friends in the run-up to the event, which is held annually near Penrith.

Hambley later pleaded guilty to offering to supply class A ecstasy, on July 23, 25 and 29; and also admitted class B ketamine on July 17. Robinson admitted supplying a quantity of class A cocaine to another on July 28; offering to supply ecstasy on July 15 and 25; and possessing ecstasy on July 30.

A raft of positive references were provided in support of both young men, neither of whom had been in trouble before, the court heard.

As a result, Hambley, of Woodside Cottages, Haverthwaite, and Robinson, of Sheriff Well Close, Greenodd, each had two-year jail terms suspended for two years today.

Each must also complete 240 hours' unpaid work.
