LAKE District fell runner Steve Birkinshaw launched his debut book There is no Map in Hell – a once-in-a-generation account of his 2014 record-breaking run over all 214 Wainwright fells.
Birkinshaw, who lives in Threlkeld, delivered a talk and slideshow to around 50 guests at Wilf's Cafe, Staveley, and was interviewed by fell runner and director of the Dragon’s Back Race, Shane Ohly, before taking questions.
'There is no Map in Hell' recounts Birkinshaw’s preparation, training and mile-by-mile experience of running the Wainwrights, including the extraordinary demands he made of his mind and body, and the physiological aftermath of his week-long feat.
