SOUTH Lakeland Mind raised £649 and engaged the local community during Mental Health Awareness Week.
Volunteers spent time in the Westmorland Shopping Centre, talking to the public about the services the charity offers.
These include a drop-in centre, peer support, indoor and outdoor counselling and massage therapy.
"We were overwhelmed by the kindness, generosity and goodwill we received," said Kimberley Andrew community development and engagement officer for South Lakeland Mind.
"We heard many personal and moving testimonials from people showing just how important it is for everyone to be able to have their voice heard, at South Lakeland Mind we are here to support people with mental health and emotional health problems."
During the week Kirsty Harrison from Body Shop at Home hosted an event with product sampling, prizes and 60 cakes from Amy's Aussie Bakery.
