THERE was a carnival atmosphere at Brathay Hall as runners crossed the finish line for the Brathay Trust's ASICS Windermere marathon.
Hundreds turned out to both compete in and support runners at the notoriously difficult endurance test..
The race, which started and finished at the iconic hall, saw competitors run around the UK's largest lake in what was selected as the 'most scenic' marathon route in the UK by readers of Runners World.

Among the finishers were the inspirational athletes who successfully completed the Brathay 10 in 10 - a challenge which demanded that they complete 10 marathons in as many days.
The Windermere marathon was the final race in the challenge.
Results for the race will be released later today.
