CARNIVAL goers are looking forward to making their way across the new Gowan Bridge in Staveley this summer.
The Staveley Carnival will take place from June 16-18 and feature a procession, music, dancing and magicians.
Ro Thomas, of Staveley Carnival Cooperative, said: "What better way to celebrate the new bridge than by the spectacle of the carnival’s four breathtaking seas of colour dancing its way across!"
The Old Gowan Bridge was damaged beyond repair during Storm Desmond - after months of anticipation, its replacement opened last Thursday (May 18).
Carnival Artists have been busy working with local people and schools throughout South Lakeland to create giant scale costumes that will dance through the village on Sunday, June 18.
Anyone wanting to join the procession can come to community workshops on June 11 at Windermere Ladyholme Centre or June 17 at Staveley Recreation Ground.
