A SHOW of solidarity for those affected by yesterday's events in Manchester will take place on Walney Island instead of a General Elections hustings that had been planned.

Parliamentary candidates for the Barrow and Furness constituency were due to meet at the Walney Community Centre this evening for a debate.

Since yesterday's terror attack at the Manchester Arena, however, political parties have suspended their campaigns.

Instead of the debate, a service will take place at St Mary the Virgin's Church at Walney for anybody impacted by yesterday's events.

It will be led by the Rev Andy Batchelor. Labour cooperative candidate John Woodcock will attend, and it is believed the other candidates will also be there.
