Elsewhere, lightning has caused electricity problems for those in the Burton-in-Kendal and Settle areas.
The Met office has issued a yellow weather warning for Cumbria and Lancashire.
It has said that heavy, thundery showers this afternoon and evening (May 27) have the potential to bring torrential rain, hail and frequent lightning.
It cautions people to be aware of the risk of localised flooding with longer journey times possible as well as some interruption to utilities and services.
