PUPILS at Bentham Community Primary School have been recognised for their green credentials and cookery skills.
Children involved in the school's Food for Life project have been growing their own produce, promoting cookery skills across the school and making improvements to their fellow pupils' overall dining experience.
In recognition, pupils involved in the School Nutrition Action Group have helped the school gain a bronze award from the Soil Association, which runs the scheme.
The award focuses on removing harmful additives and trans fats from the menu, and ensuring that the majority of food is prepared freshly on site.
As well as the Food for Life Project, members of the school's Eco Group have worked hard to achieve a silver ‘Eco Award’.
Group members have looked into how to make the school more environmentally friendly.
Included in the criteria to gain the award is carrying out an environmental review of the school, producing a detailed action plan with specific targets and creating an agreed eco-code.
