VOTERS are heading to the polls today to elect the MP for the largest constituency in England - Penrith and Border.
Six candidates are in the running to represent the Penrith and the Border constituency - Independent Jonathan Davies, Liberal Democrat Neil Hughes, The Green Party's Doug Lawson, Labour's Lola McEvoy, UKIP's Kerryanne Wilde and Conservative Rory Stewart.
In 2015, Rory Stewart, who has been an MP for Penrith and Border since 2010, retained his seat by polling 26,202 votes, amounting to a 59.7 per cent share of the vote.

Labour's Lee Rushworth, who came second, polled 6,308 votes.
UKIP candidate John Stanyer got 5,353 votes, Liberal Democrat Neil Hughes polled 3,745 votes and Bryan Burrow for the Green Party polled 2,313 votes.
The count is taking place in Penrith, and a result is expected at approximately 3.30am.
The poll for the election to Penrith and Borders parliamentary constituency will open at 7am and close at 10pm on Thursday June 8.
