The England Athletics Mountain Running Championships took place on Sunday June 4 at Skiddaw near Keswick.
The uphill-only event was held in conjunction with the trials for the GB &NI team for the European Championships, which are to be held in Kamnik, Slovenia on July 8.
It was a Cumbrian 1-2-3 in the Junior Men’s Championship with Chris Richards of Helm Hill took the gold from Joseph Dugdale of Cumberland Fell Runners. Border's Elliott Matier was third.

Clear winner of the senior women’s race was Sarah Tunstall of Kendal, who gradually built up her lead to finish over a minute clear of second placed runner Victoria Wilkinson, who was representing Bingley. Third place went to Norway- based Rebecca Hilland who was running for Bath).
Thames Valley runner Chris Smith took the English title in a race won by Scottish athlete Andrew Douglas. Chris Arthur, of Bowland, won silver and Horwich's Chris Farrell took bronze.
