STUDENTS of The Lakes School, Troutbeck Bridge, near Windermere, are all set to perform the sensational musical that is Chicago. Famously choreographed by Bob Fosse, the show is riddled with with amazing tunes such as All That Jazz and Razzle Dazzle. The story is based in mid-1920s Chicago and the gifted performing arts students that make up the strong cast tell the crazy story with great flair, energy and above all skill. WOOLFEST 2017 isn't just about buying and selling, it's a great day out to celebrate the best of wool. Opportunities to take part in creative projects, enjoy watching craft skills at the many demonstrations, from weaving and crocheting to knitting and felting. You can learn about British wool and rare native breeds, and events in the main ring include sheep shearing, rare breed parade and various talks. MORE Music's Catch The Wind Kite Festival is back this Saturday and Sunday (June 24 & 25) taking over Morecambe's seafront and on the big stage set-up in front of The Platform. For the whole day the skies will be full of the most spectacular kites of all shapes and colours; don't be alarmed to see a flying dinosaur or even a kiteman riding the thermals alongside the seagulls! The Platform's main stage will showcase an array of fantastic live music talent, plus the town will be packed to the gunnels with stalls, workshops, arts activities and so much more. DERWENT Island House Open Day – discover the reality of life on the island past and present, indoors and out, and enjoy the gardens, grounds and amazing views of Derwentwater and the island. The adventure begins on Sunday (June 25) at Keswick’s NT lakeside shop, then make your way across the jetties to the canoes – you will paddle across a short stretch of the lake and once on terra firma you will enjoy a 45 min tour of Pocklington’s Georgian house. The first tour departs at 10.15am with the last canoe to the island leaving at 2.30pm. The visit lasts approximately 2½ hours.

SILVERDALE & Arnside Art and Craft Trail runs tomorrow (1pm-8pm), Saturday & Sunday (June 23, 24 & 25, 10.30am-5.30pm). This annual event offers visitors the opportunity to step into artists’ open studios, houses and galleries and experience the vast wealth of talent through a variety of mediums, including workshops, live performances, demonstrations, family activities, and actually meeting the artists in person. There are 10 key sites with more than 20 smaller venues scattered among the two villages, including Silverdale Golf Club, The Gaskell Hall, The WI Hall and EI Hall, Arnside.

STUDENTS of Kirkbie Kendal School present Disco Inferno from Tuesday to Friday (June 27-30, 7.30pm), at Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal. The story takes place in London during the sizzling summer of ’76, and music hopeful Jack Flash has a ‘burning’ desire to make it in the music business at any cost. He meets Lady Marmalade, a femme fatale and right-hand lady to the Devil himself. Jack strikes a deal with her, trading his soul to fulfil his wildest dreams … The show features some of the greatest hits from the 70s era including I will Survive, Boogie Nights, Play That Funky Music and many more – all performed by a live band and the talented school cast.
