MULTIPLE sclerosis sufferer Jean Crosbie has successfully assented Latterbarrow in a special all-terrain wheelchair.

"I did it!" the 71-year-old said. "Not at all easy. What an exciting adventure! Next time you go up there imagine a large four wheel electric wheelchair going up the steep bits and over boulders and gullies."

Jean, who lives in Hawkshead, made it up the fell in order to raise money for new charity, Freedom Wizard.

The charity arranges experience days, events and challenges to enable access to forests, moorland and fells for wheelchair users throughout the UK.

"It was an amazing day!" Jean said. "What fun we had - far more emotional than I imagined. I can’t have been up there in June before as I was delighted to discover unexpected wild flowers. The clear weather enabled me to feast my eyes on the spectacular views I’d forgotten - enough to last me the rest of my life. I felt so alive.

"Thank you so much Allie and Jeanette of Freedom Wizard for making it all possible."
