GRASMERE storyteller Taffy Thomas MBE found new fame as a Sunday Times crossword clue.

The Society for Storytelling patron told the Gazette it was "very exciting" to feature at 52 down in the newspaper's general knowledge jumbo crossword in April.

"We were on tour and several people came up to tell us that we had been the clue in the Times crossword they were doing," said Taffy, who is married to Chrissy. "We had no idea about it and when we got home people here told us about it too."

Taffy will next be spinning yarns at Rusland Horizons, a free woodland crafts and tales event at Stott Park Bobbin Mill, Finsthwaite, on Saturday and Sunday, June 24 and 25; at Ambleside Parish Centre with fiddle player Paul Knox on August 10 at 2pm; and at Staveley Folk Festival on August 12 and 13.
