KENDAL neighbours gathered beneath sunny skies to officially open a community garden at Rosemary Lane, Fellside.

The project began four years ago when the volunteers of Fellside and Greenside Forum came together to transform a small piece of scrub land to a lovely space with a seat and views over the town.

As forum secretary Cath Stobbart told the Gazette, the group was awarded £500 by Skipton Building Society and the money was used to pay Kendal Conservation Volunteers to make the paths and maintain the area along with help from volunteers. South Lakes Housing did most of the groundwork and South Lakeland District Council provided the seat.
