STROLL along the Edwardian promenade of Grange-over-Sands, and browse the stalls which run the length of the prom. The aptly named Prom Art boasts more than 70 stalls featuring original artwork, photography and crafts; you can chat to the exhibitors, some of which are the artists and artisans, and enjoy the performing arts and live music, the backdrop of Morecambe Bay and its unique wildlife and habitats, as well as the town's lovely atmosphere and vibrant café society. Prom Art takes place this Sunday (June 25, 10am-4pm).

JOURNEY back to the 1940s for a weekend of entertainment and nostalgia, as the village of Ingleton is transformed into a 1940s village in France, initially occupied by German troops, visitors will see work by the Resistance and liberation by Allied troops, performed by professional re-enactors. Operation Homeguard - Ingleton's 1940s Weekend takes place from tomorrow (Friday) to Sunday (June 30-July 2) and since its inception in 2007 has vastly grown in popularity. There are 40s themed stalls and street games, a Street Parade of military vehicles and uniformed groups, as well as displays (including a replica Spitfire), vintage family funfair, dances and entertainment, plus a parachute display by the Royal Logistic Corp (RLC) Silver Stars and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast. LEIGHTON Hall revs up for a classic day out when it hosts Mark Woodward’s popular Classic Car & Bike Show for the 18th year running on Sunday (July 2) More than 500 vintage vehicles will be on display, from Austin Sevens to Land Rovers, as well as classic motorcycles, 4x4s, ex-military vehicles and beautifully restored commercial vehicles. There’s also the popular auto jumble and plenty of trade stands to pick up that elusive bargain, spare part, or classic insignia. This is a brilliant day for all the family to enjoy, and visitors can also explore the house, with tours running from 1pm, for a small charge. Leighton Hall is situated at Carnforth. Gates open at 10am until 4pm.

STUDENTS of Kirkbie Kendal School present Disco Inferno from Tuesday to Friday (June 27-30, 7.30pm), at Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal. The story takes place in London during the sizzling summer of ’76, and music hopeful Jack Flash has a ‘burning’ desire to make it in the music business at any cost. He meets Lady Marmalade, a femme fatale and right-hand lady to the Devil himself. Jack strikes a deal with her, trading his soul to fulfil his wildest dreams … The show features some of the greatest hits from the 70s era including I will Survive, Boogie Nights, Play That Funky Music and many more – all performed by a live band and the talented school cast.

SKELTON Show, which has been running since the late 1800s and matured from a small country show held in the village, to one of the major agricultural shows in Cumbria. It takes place on Saturday (July 1) in the picturesque setting of the Old Park at Hutton-in-the-Forest near Penrith.
The show has a large horticultural and industrial marquee and classes of cattle, sheep, horses, dogs, vintage vehicles, fur and feathered animals and Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling. With more than 150 trade stands, a gift and crafts tent, Skelton Food Hall, a wide variety of entertainment and live music plus special attractions, such as donkey rides, scurry racing, a World War One Tribute, Silver Band Falconry and El Condor Native American Music. It has a reputation for being a great day out for all the family.

ULVERSTON Carnival will take place on Saturday (July 1) through the streets of Ulverston and then onto Ford Park Field. The theme of the parade is ‘The World of Entertainment’, which means many local people will be dressing up and walking through the town alongside the many creative and colourful floats, which are put together especially for this event. The traditional dancing competitions will take place at Ford Park at 10.30am, with the Hollywood-themed parade starting at 1pm.

Bay Radio will come alive at 4pm with a gaggle of live performances from Misha B, Beth Horan and Adrian Ventura to name but a few.

The carnival is supporting five local charities, Ulverston Mind, Hart Street Mencap Centre, Ulverston Inshore Rescue, Furness Carers and Furness Animal Refuge.
