A KENDAL man has been fined for being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
David Kelson, 52, of Highgate, was in the Subway shop on Finkle Street in Kendal at five to seven on June 5.
Prosecuting, Chrissie Hunt told Kendal Magistrates' Court that when asked to leave the shop by staff, Kelson refused, and began shouting at a couple, slurring his speech.
Police were called and when they arrived at the scene he also shouted at them, saying he wanted to have a drink.
Representing himself in court, Kelson pleaded guilty and apologised.
He told the court that he was a chronic alcoholic and had attempted suicide shortly before the incident. The court heard that Kelson was now being treated for his problems.
District judge Gerald Chalk fined Kelson £35. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
