NETHERFIELD cricket captain Ben Barrow has spoken of his team's fine form after they rose to the top of a league with a victory over St Anne's at the weekend.

This performance was followed by a win over Morecambe in the twenty-20, making for a successful two days across the board.

Barrow said: "It was a pretty big weekend for us in terms of the twenty-20 games and the league.

"I think that on Saturday St Anne's came at us quite hard with the ball.

"But with our performance with the ball we are not really going to lose many, especially when only chasing 120. Our bowlers all stuck together really well too.

"Being top of the table is obviously a big reward for Saturday. We are on a really good run at the moment and we are enjoying our cricket.

"It's early days so we won't get carried away; we'll take it one game at a time."

Netherfield play Morecambe in their next league game, who they will take on at home.

"We are really looking forward to that game, especially the lads who are ex-Morecambe players," Barrow said.

"It is good to get home games in. When you play you want to play at home because that is where you play your best cricket.

"We have two games at the start of July at home in the twenty-20: Lancaster and Morecambe. We've won two from two so far, so if we beat Lancaster we qualify for the final.

"The twenty-20 competition is something that Netherfield have won five times in the last seven years. It suits our style of play and we take it seriously. We want to win."
