The footage clearly shows the offender approaching a silver vehicle and appears to crouch down at all four corners of the car.

The offender initially walks towards vehicles on another section of the car park and can be seen speaking to someone that was inside a camper van. The offender then left that area of the car park and walked into the top part of the car park. The male then lends a helping hand to a motorist trying to reverse on to the main road. The offender then goes straight to another vehicle and punctures all four tyres before leaving the car park and walks off in the direction of Lowther Street.

The male is wearing black clothing and carrying a white carrier. He also has a black umbrella with a yellow logo or similar on it.

Police believe this male had walked through the town centre and down Finkle Street onto Stramongate before cutting through Camden Buildings and onto New Road before committing the damage.

Sergeant Suzanne Scott-O’Neill said: “There has been a number of tyre slashing incidents in the town centre over recent months and we are keen to identify the individual in this footage, tyres were also slashed on a vehicle on Dowkers Lane that day and it is likely this individual also committed that damage. We really need the public’s help to identify this individual.”

Anyone who recognises the individual, or has any information about the incident, should contact police on 101 and ask for PS 1431 Scott-O’Neill or PC 1342 Chapman. They can also email Suzanne.Scott-O'Neill@cumbria.police.uk or Christopher.chapman@cumbria.police.uk.
