Local MP Tim Farron visited the New Holehird home for the disabled to attend a social event and present them with a cheque for £345 towards the campaign to save the home.
Tim raised the money through his triathlon in which he ran, sailed and cycled from the most northerly point of his constituency to Humphrey Head the most southerly point.
Tim Farron said: "New Holehird provides vital support to severely disabled people in our area and it would be a huge blow to the community if it were forced to close. The trustees are doing a great job in trying to save the home and I hope to do everything I can to ensure its future. I really enjoyed my triathlon and I am glad that I can make a contribution to the campaign but there is still much more to do to ensure the future of New Holehird."
The New Holehird home in Windermere needs to raise £1.5m to secure its future beyond 2007/08. Details of how to contribute to the campaign can be found at www.newholehird.co.uk.
