A SOUTH Lakes university student will be sentenced later this month after committing drugs supply crimes.

Samuel Bowen-Wild, 21, pleaded guilty to five offences at Carlisle Crown Court.

He admitted possessing class B ketamine and cannabis with intent to supply; possessing the class A substance psilocin; being in possession of criminal property, namely cash; and driving a Renault Clio while unfit through drugs on the A591 at Kendal.

All of his criminal activity occurred on January 6, £1,200 worth of ketamine and £140 cannabis having been seized.

Bowen-Wild was described as a "successful" music undergraduate who hoped to gain a first class degree - if he retained his liberty. He was now clean of drugs having voluntarily sought assistance, the court heard.

Judge Peter Davies adjourned the case and asked a probation officer to prepare a pre-sentence report. He announced he would impose a suspended jail term - but stressed that "difficult and challenging conditions" would be attached.

In the meantime Bowen-Wild, of Moorend Cottages, Endmoor, was granted bail.
