NOMINATIONS for Cumbria Women of the Year 2017 awards are now being invited.

These long-established Awards recognise and celebrate Cumbria’s inspirational women, often unsung heroines, who enrich the lives of others with their kindness, generosity of spirit and dedication.

For the third year running, the prestigious awards lunch to pay tribute to the women who really make a difference to life in Cumbria will be held at the Laura Ashley Belsfield Hotel, overlooking Windermere, on Wednesday, November 29.

Last year’s richly-deserving Cumbria Woman of the Year was Cheryl Berry, who was in the vanguard of the team that responded to the devastation of Storm Desmond, making and delivering hot meals from her own Romney’s Bar in Kendal, galvanising support and co-ordinating the volunteer effort.

Landscape historian Sally Beamish’s work in restoring the Gardens at Brantwood was also recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Nominate your special person - an ordinary woman who does extraordinary things - by downloading a form from the CWY website at www.cumbriawomenoftheyear.co.uk or contacting the new Chair of Cumbria Women of the Year, Judith Pattinson at Gelt Garth, Paving Brow, Brampton, CA8 1QT, 016977 2043.

Committee member Jackie (01768 896409) will also provide forms via post.
