A FARLETON farmer's plans for a bigger free-range poultry shed met with approval from South Lakeland District Council.
Mr R G Robinson, of Ellers Farm, is planning to update the egg-laying system in the enlarged building, according to planning documents.

Tiered perches would be located over manure belts to remove droppings twice a week, leading to an "improved atmosphere" and reduced levels of ammonia.
The farm has a brood of 6,000 free-range hens, and the new unit would have capacity for up to 16,000.
