PROPERTY specialist Carter Jonas is celebrating its 20th anniversary in Kendal.

The company opened its doors at 52 Kirkland in July 1997 after acquiring Fisher Hoggarth, and the team provides a wide range of professional and consultancy services across the rural sector.

Julian Lambton, partner, said: "This is an exciting chapter for the Carter Jonas team in Kendal. Carter Jonas has grown substantially over the last 20 years; we now have a network of 38 offices across the UK with over 700 employees and we are proud that our office is part of this success story."

Mr Lambton recalled: "The origins of this practice stretch back nearly 180 years, when young Henry Hoggarth first started working in Kendal as a surveyor in 1839, being succeeded by his sons Arthur and Edwin, and later his grandson Lawrence.

"Henry undertook the first survey of Kendal in 1853. The firm moved from 13 Finkle Street to 69 Highgate, then to Midland Bank Chambers and later still to 35 Stramongate, before moving to 52 Kirkland in 1974, where it has been ever since."

He continued: "Throughout its history the Kendal office has been recognised as being synonymous with farming and estate management, as well as being at the heart of the rural sector. Over the last 20 years we have evolved our services in the region to respond to the needs of the industry. I speak on behalf of the whole team when I say that it’s a privilege to continue the legacy of the Hoggarth family, and to work in such a wonderful part of the world while playing a role in its future."

The Carter Jonas Kendal office advises clients on making the most of their rural assets through estate management services, valuations and sales and lettings advice.
