A WOODLAND near Windermere quadrupled its guide price at a recent auction.
Chartered surveyors Michael CL Hodgson, of Kendal and Grange-over-Sands, said the 1.9-acre plot at Troutbeck sold for four times the guide price, at £40,000.
A boathouse with lake frontage on to Windermere also attracted keen interest, selling for £290,000, more than £50,000 higher than the guide price.
The auction at Kendal Town Hall was described as "a hive of activity" with some bidders travelling from across the UK hoping to take home a pocket of the Lake District.
