SYRIAN refugees who have been resettled in the county have received a £400 donation from the Cumbria Soaring Club’s annual “Lakes Charity Classic” paragliding competition.
The competition was held at the weekend at the Grasmere Sports showground. The donation goes to the Carlisle Refugee Action Group (CRAG) which has been working with the refugees and Cumbria County Council to help the Syrians adjust to life in Cumbria.
More than £5000 was raised overall which will be shared amongst other nominated charities including: Blackwell Sailing Trust, Langdale & Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team, Lake District Mountain Rescue Dogs, Dales Cave Rescue, Great North Air Ambulance, Flyability, Grasmere Reading Rooms, Threlkeld Youth Club and In the Moment.
