SIX former Olympians have taken on the might of Honister Slate Mine’s Infinity Bridge as part of a new documentary series.

‘Mission Mudder’ is a new six part series featuring half a dozen Olympic stars competing in three ultimate challenges. The opening episode includes footage of Honister, following filming which took place in February.

The aim of the programme is to create an 'all-star' style team to compete on some of the most gruelling endurance and obstacle courses in the UK and the USA.

The celebrity team was made up of Welsh taekwondo star and double gold medallist Jade Jones, former World and European indoor 400m champion Perri Shakes-Drayton and cycling's world silver medallist Jess Varnish.

Also joining the line-up were Team GB snowboarder Aimee Fuller, judoka Ashley McKenzie and Commonwealth Games 75kg boxing champion Anthony Fowler.

Co-owner of Honister Slate Mine, Joe Weir, said: “The Infinity Bridge is twice as high as London’s Shard and seven times the height of Big Ben, so it’s a great challenge for anyone – even Olympic stars!

"All six Olympians seemed to enjoy their experience in Lake District, and the scenes made a great finale to the first episode of this new series. It’s a great way of showcasing our epic landscape and inspiring anyone with a sense of adventure to have a go for themselves!”

It is due to be screened on Sky Sports One tonight at 8pm and again this Saturday.
