COLOURFUL umbrella displays in Kendal's shopping streets have been catching the eye of passers-by this morning.
The red, green, orange and blue umbrellas have been strung up across Wainwright's Yard and Elephant Yard as part of a Kendal Business Improvement District (BID) initiative to brighten up the Auld Grey Town.

They appear to have been well received with people taking photos of the new visual attraction which was installed overnight.
Local businesses are also putting up umbrella displays in their windows for children to find as part of a family trails initiative.
The umbrellas will be on display until after the Kendal Torchlight parade in September.
