CHARITY cyclists fuelled up with bacon buns and coffee at Carus Green Golf Club, Kendal, en route from John O'Groats to Lands End

The riders were taking part in Bike the UK for MS, an event to raise money for treatment and research into multiple sclerosis.

Christian Davies, chair of the Westmorland South Lakes branch of the MS Society, told the Gazette: "Since its inception in 2014 the event has grown each year with a record 24 riders taking part this year in the gruelling ride from John O'Groats to Lands End, raising well over £20,000.

"Every year the riders have camped on the outskirts of Kendal and members of the Westmorland South Lakes branch of the MS Society have provided them with bacon butties before waving them off on the next stage of their journey.

"This year was no exception and, through the very kind generosity of Carus Green Golf Club, the branch were able to greet them in style in the brand new sports lounge where huge bacon buns awaited along with plenty of coffee to set them off on their way."
