POLICE are currently investigating a spate of rural burglaries in the South Lakes area that occurred overnight on Sunday July 23.

A number of premises have been broken into where money from tills and safes were stolen.

They include:

· A caravan park in Meathop and Crooklands.

· Two caravan parks in Endmoor.

· A motor vehicle garage in Crooklands.

· Three business premises in Sedgwick, Flookburgh and Cartmel.

Anybody with information should email 101@cumbria.police.uk or contact Cumbria Police on 101 and ask to speak to DC Ian Garratt. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Police would like to remind the public to stay vigilant to burglars by ensuring all doors and windows are kept locked. Business premises are asked to ensure that there are no valuable items or money left in a property overnight.

Police encourage business and property owners to take active precautions such as the instalment of CCTV and extra security measures, which would assist in preventing and detecting this sort of crime.
