FIVE eight-year-old children from Chernobyl, along with a translator, have been hosted by six Lune Valley families.
Their living conditions and environment are still impacted by the effects of nuclear fall-out in 1986 when a reactor exploded at the Chernobyl power plant.
They visited the area for a recuperative four-week stay to boost their immune systems and experience fresh air, nutritional food and basic healthcare.
The fist week saw them visit Tatham Fells School for the day, The Grand Theatre in Lancaster and a walk around Ingleton Waterfalls.
The second week saw them visit Holgates Caravan park in Silverdale and Ingleborough Caves. During the third week they went Greenlands Farm, Tewitfield, where they played in the pop up pool and beach and also visited Lancaster Castle.
The last week was more relaxed with a walk around Leighton Moss and a day in the butterfly house at Williamson Park. They also had a day on the miniature Cinderbarrow Railway at Yealand Redmayne followed by a leaving party at Liz and Roger Neil's house in Kirkby Lonsdale.
