A MAN has admitted assaulting a male inside his Kendal home and stealing belongings from him.

Rollo George Seigal, 38, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today and admitted assaulting Alan Ure by beating inside his New Shambles address. He also pleaded guilty to the theft of £170 worth of clothing and DVDs.

Seigal was said to have been under the influence of a substance when he entered the property just before 11pm on March 5. He punched and kicked Mr Ure who, the court heard, suffered "minor bruising" but did not require medical treatment.

The DVDs were later returned to him having been found inside a bag a short distance away from Seigal when he was arrested early the following morning.

Seigal, of no fixed address, was given a six-month prison term by Judge Peter Davies, who said: "It is a serious theft and assault because it happened at his home."

Seigal was said to have been in custody since his arrest, and was expected to be released immediately.

He had previously been charged with - and denied - the robbery of Mr Ure. Judge Davies recorded a not guilty verdict on that charge after Seigal admitted the theft and assault.

Seigal was made subject to a restraining order which prohibits him from contacting Mr Ure in any way for 10 years.
