THE Windermere Ferry will not be operating for part of the day tomorrow as it is taken out of service by Cumbria County Council to undergo urgent repairs.
The ferry will stop operating at 9am to allow commuters to catch earlier ferries before work starts on the cable drive system, which pulls the ferry across the lake.
The first ferry of the day leaves Bowness at 6.50am, with further crossings approximately every 30 minutes. It is anticipated the ferry will re-open later in the day subject to completion of the repairs.
A CCC spokesman said: "The council apologises for any inconvenience and asks people to plan their journeys accordingly.
"We will post updates about when the ferry will re-open throughout the day via social media channels – Facebook and Twitter search: Cumbria CC."
