RAIL passengers from Cumbria and Lancashire are urged to avoid travelling to London over the August bank holiday.

No trains will be running in or out of Euston station on August 26 and 27 while a major power supply is re-routed by Network Rail as part of preparation works for Britain's new high speed railway.

The Euston shutdown will impact on all services on the West Coast Main Line including trains serving Oxenholme, Penrith, Carlisle, Lancaster, Preston, Blackpool and Wigan.

All customers are urged to check on www.nationalrail.co.uk for the very latest travel information. Further detail on the works can be found at www.nationalrail.co.uk/eustonworks.
