ON SATURDAY (August 12) there will be a coffee morning at Waterside Farm, Firbank, from 10am-noon. There will be a cake stall selling all kinds of delicious home produce, a bric-a-brac stall plus tea and coffee, of course. The proceeds will go to the North West Air Ambulance the operation of which is reliant upon charitable donations and fund raisers such as this. THERE may still be time to sign up for the Get Safe on Line course which is running at the People’s Hall on Monday, August 14, from 1pm. The course has been organised by Age UK and is designed to help people stay clear of fraud and other internet traps. THE People’s Hall is hosting the Dementia Hub on Monday, August 14, from 2pm-4pm, to help and inform people who are worried in any way about their memory. This one stop shop is the initiative of Kendal Dementia Action Alliance with support from South Lakes Carers, the Alzheimer’s Society, Age UK, Lancaster University and Morecambe Bay Trust.

THE district branch of Christian Aid held its annual meeting when the committee reviewed the year’s activities. Sadly, due to changes in circumstances and house moves, committee numbers are down at present.

Those interested in the work of Christian Aid and would like to join the committee should contact the information centre on 015396-20125 or drop in and leave their details.

The next fundraiser planned by Christian Aid is a coffee morning on Wednesday, October 4, at the Cornerstone Community Church room’s entrance from Joss Lane.

NEXT week’s coffee morning has been organised by the Garsdale Red Squirrels Group, which holds the event annually. It will take place on Wednesday, August 16 in Cornerstone Community Church rooms, entrance from Joss Lane. Doors open at 10am. Proceeds will go towards helping find ways to protect the endangered red squirrels.
